While I'm working on the production, placement and promotion of MY ZOMBIE DOG (I promise to share the steps and any insightful tips I pick up along the way), I'm making some time for more writing. I've a couple of manuscripts that need editing but a few more that are only partially done. I've decided to revisit THE PIRATE GIRL, it's been years since I wrote anything towards that novel. Emily, my 13 year old writer and critic, suggested I spend some time reading through my notes and what I have so far.
"Nah, I remember it," I informed her, "that's the one about that girl... what's-her-name and it had that guy too, you know... the guy."
Okay, maybe I'll invest in a little reading time first.
Do you have any under-the-bed half-finished manuscripts you'd like to rework one day? Or maybe something you'll never let see the light of day?
Zombie Dog will be nom nom nomming her way into your hearts (or brains) soon.
I have a number of manuscripts like that except mine are in the closet in my writing office. Someday I have to let them come out of the closet.

Tossing It Out
Hi Charmaine,
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder to all us Writers with dusty manuscripts hidden away!
While its fabulous to send out submissions for completed works...its fabulous to revisit an old manuscript and breathe New Life into it.
Good luck with yours
Karen T:)
Do I???!!! 2012 resolutions: write more, eat less. Now I'll have to check all my bottom drawers and files too. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi I found your blog throught the A to Z challenge list.
ReplyDeleteI love dogs.... well all animals.
Good luck with the challenge.
Yvonne.
Besides the ideas I have stored somewhere in my head, I only have one written manuscript. I did dust it off the other day, and quickly put it away again. Was so disappointed. The rewrite is going to be quite a job. But, I must promise myself to dig in, and work. Hopefully, I will soon.
ReplyDeleteI have both kinds of manuscripts. I'm one of those people who can only work on one book at a time (I'm not too good at mutitasking). Too bad I didn't make myself finish each and every one before moving on to the next one. Now I'm trying to do that, but in reverse order.
ReplyDeleteI SO wanna read this, especially after seeing that illustration! Whoop!

Fantasies, mysteries, comedies, recipes
I have both types. Some I wrote as a kid and just can't let go, and others that are worth revisiting, but just not right now when I have so many fresh ideas going. Good luck with everything!

I love that little zombie pup & it sounds like a great concept:-)
ReplyDeleteI think your zombie dog is sitting next to me right now...no, wait...it's just my dog but he looks a lot like the dog in your post and he smells bad too. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a ton of manuscripts just waiting to be edited and revised. My daughter says I have enough of them to keep me writing until I'm ninety.
I saw you on the A-Z sign-up list and thought I'd stop by to say "hi". So - Hi!
I tucked two novels in the drawer. Since I'm embracing myself as a playwright, perhaps they'll come out in a new form.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.
