Productivity, blogging and test subjects

And now I have a big favour to ask. I'm testing the comment host, first I'm trying the WordPress comments with CommentLuv added (that means your latest post is automatically displayed in your comment). Some people expressed a problem commenting on WordPress sites, so I'm also looking at the Disqus option - a separate host to manage blog comments. 

Do you have a preference?

I'm writing up my second post for the series Build A Better Website With Me - to show you how to install WordPress through your hosting site. I'll share that tomorrow - and a big thanks to everyone who's been helping me out with this transition!

    I once used Disqus. I loved the system. Google copied the Reply part. But it crashed on me when Google added the 'au' to addresses. It was a scramble to get it back but I lost every comment in my previous blog history. I rushed back to Google. Comment Luv I looked at and like but have not used it. Looks good. Anything is better than Word Press comments! IMHO.

      Hi Denise, yes, I had you in mind :)
      Because so many WordPress sites use Disqus, I wasn't sure if your problem (and a few other Blogger users who commented on this issue) was with the standard WordPress comments or the Disqus ones. I'll dig a little deeper :)

    Disqus is fab for filtering spam, though, so that's why I use it. :)

      That's a good point Mia, don't want to encourage those spammers - at least not until they improve their grammar :)

    Hi, Charmaine,
    Wordpress is an adventure every time I use it. It's not my platform of choice for all its sophisticated looks. Sometimes I'm luckier with the comments than other times. No preference on the commenting, but I used Disqus for a short time and it kept locking out a few of my visitors.

    I love comment luv. I don't think I can put it on my WP blog. Disqus has always given me problems. It WON'T show my profile picture, and I've tried everything. It also has some other quirks. But it's probably just me. I did something at Youtube or my blog with my music player. I set up Thunderstorm noise, but have it starting almost midway into the video. I have NO idea how I did it or how to fix it. And the beginning is the best part. It's the reason I chose that one. Dang laptop touchpad. I sometimes accidentally do things when I'm moving the cursor. Yesterday I published a post prematurely and had to fix it real quick. It went to emails...a half done post.

    Anyway...off to your other blog.

      Thanks so much for visiting the new blog today Mike, and I think I'll steer clear of Disqus, I've heard too many negative things about it now. Posting too soon might be a good way to increase productivity by making you edit quicker ;)

    I don't use Disqus as a personal choice. Do what is best for you and your blog. Ensure the choice you make helps your blog and the readers.

    Hi Charmaine .. I've had problems with Disqus .. and it still happens with others ..

    I use blogger for now - and that seems ok .. so the positive comments for Disqus are interesting .. I have to say I wouldn't go that route ..
